Nerd Test

I took a Nerd Test and I got a score of 64:
Low Ranking Nerd.  Definitely a nerd but low on the totem pole of nerds. I would have put the image here but I didn’t know how, but here’s the code I got from the site. Go figure ;-)

3-in-One

I had the privilege of taking care of my mom when she was hospitalized. She had her gall bladder, uterus and appendix taken out so she spent more or less a week in confinement. It was weird at first, seeing my mother weak but I was glad I was there to assist her, especially during those times she felt the excruciating pain near her stomach. I’m really grateful to the doctors and nurses who treated her. But I still don’t like hospitals.

Bayan Ko
Original Tagalog lyrics by Jose Corazon de Jesus
Melody by Constancio de Guzman.

Ang bayan kong Pilipinas
Lupain ng ginto’t bulaklak
Pag-ibig ang sa kanyang palad
Nag-alay ng ganda’t dilag.
At sa kanyang yumi at ganda
Dayuhan ay nahalina
Bayan ko, binihag ka
Nasadlak sa dusa.

Ibon mang may layang lumipad
Kulungin mo at umiiyak
Bayan pa kayang sakdal dilag
Ang di magnasang makaalpas!
Pilipinas kong minumutya
Pugad ng luha ko’t dalita
Aking adhika,
Makita kang sakdal laya!

Wait a minute, Mr. Postman

I love receiving mail. Whether they be Christmas cards from old friends, magazine subscriptions, or just plain bank billing statements. Kinda makes me feel special, having someone remember me and having that someone go out of his or her way and daily routine, just to send me a little note.

I was able to keep in touch with my friends who have gone abroad mainly through letters. It’s just ironic that now that we have more avenues for communication, like email, instant messengers and friendster messages, the less we were able to talk to each other. The fact that it’s cheaper and faster to get in touch is exactly what blocked the communication lines. Dropping a line to say hello was taken for granted. And the mail stopped coming in.

Been two months since my last post. Kinda got caught up in work. At least Phase 1 of my project is about to finish, so I can lay back and relax a little. Even went on a vacation and plan to do more outdoor stuff. Am giving myself a little break before I go back to my little prison. Hehe :)

Sights and Sounds

May 10th, 2005 by canned

I spend an average of 3 hours a day on the road and that’s more than enough time to take in the sights and sounds I happen to pass along the way. Some are music to the ears and some are eyesores. I particularly like checking out the giant billboards and being greeted by the serenades of the blind singers when I get off the mrt train. What I don’t like are seeing children begging on the streets because I believe they don’t belong there. Even the old people don’t belong on the streets. I just wish I could do something about it because I don’t think giving alms is going to help them get off the streets.

It’s my father’s birthday today. He would have been 59. It’s been 11 months since he died so next month would be his first death anniversary. We really miss him so much. It’s really difficult but we try our best to move on with life. To honor him, we try to continue what he started. The renovation of my mom’s ancestral home in Batangas is already finished. However, we may have to build a bigger garage because that is what the people wanting to rent the place are looking for. My brother is working on the Mustang restoration now and it would be finished hopefully next month. The hotel lodge in Bataan will take a while as it would require a lot of funds, but we’ll get there.

So, we’re all right and we’re getting by. And when we get sad, we just console ourselves with the dream that we’ll all be together again and our family will be whole once more.

40 degrees and rising

I never thought I’d say this, but I hate summer. Well maybe just this summer. It’s been unbearably hot and humid, even at night. Aside from that, most of the people I know are having fun, except for me. My siblings are on vacation from school and my friends are taking acting and swimming lessons after office hours. As for me, I can’t even go to the gym because I have to stay late at work. And this will probably go on until the next month. So I guess I’ll have my summer in July. Then I’ll hate the rainy season.

Tin Can Mobile

I rode the LRT2 last weekend and it was wonderful! Way better than MRT and fewer people too. But I must say that it’s the MRT I’m loyal to because it’s what I ride going home from work. It’s crowded, chaotic and brings out the worst in people. But it takes you home fast so nobody’s really complaining.

I get off at the QAve MRT Station so that’s not really home yet. I still have to ride an FX, which is another wonderful transportation. It’s airconditioned and doesn’t make so many stops because it’s already full once you step in, and almost all of the passengers get off at Fairview. So you see, Fairview may be Farview; but still, all roads lead there.

Now, an MRT going to Fairview — that would be delightful!

8-5 = 730-630

Our current client is a government agency and they have a temporary working schedule of a four-day workweek for the months of April and May. But even if we already come in at 7:30am-630pm from Mondays thru Thursdays, we still need to come in at Friday to do some work because our project schedule is too tight. At least we’ll only be doing this for another two months because our deadline is on June. And we’re getting meal and transportation allowance, which makes up for the pressure and fatigue. I think.
